Here's a blog by Director Jon Whitehead (on the left in the photo) after his experience on The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
The day started a little strangely, I was due to be picked up at London Bridge station, to be taken to the studios on the south bank. There was no car at the meeting point, a couple of phone calls later and I hailed a black cab. My driver had gone to Paddington by mistake! On arrival at the studios I was met by a runner, whose job it was to look after me. I was taken up to the green room, and made myself comfortable, soon I was introduced to Alan Titchmarsh and we did a rehearsal ! The other guest had not arrived, so Simon from the production team stood in. We had been asked to bring a wasps nest to show, however our nest was so fresh that we still had dying wasps in the nest, the production team were not happy with the prospect of wasps escaping in to the studio! The nest was taken outside. Back in the green room I met Penny smith, Bobby Ball and on the way back from the loo bumped into reality TV star Rylan Clark! I also met the other guests that were to appear on the show and on a later show. At about 2:30 pm we were taken down to the studio to prepare for the broadcast, I was by now feeling quite sick with fear. However once on the set the fear subsided. It was interesting to see all the staff running to and fro as they positioned the cameras, set the stage and ushered in the audience. The clocked ticked quite slowly until just after 3pm when I was asked to move towards the side of the stage. Then Alan gave us the cue to move into position on the stage, and off we went, before I knew it was all over, questions answered well and confidently (I thought). After the end of the section, we left stage and I returned to the green room, other guest said I had been OK. Shortly I received a note to say that my car had arrived, and so I was off. The paparazzi completely ignored me, and I learnt that Rhianna was in the building !!! if you need to speak to me – call my agent.
