Pest controller jumps for children’s charity
A woman who works for Cleankill Pest Control in Purley, Croydon, has raised nearly £400 for Help a London Child by completing her first skydive.
Arina Novikova, a self-confessed adrenaline junkie, jumped from a height of around 14,000 feet with her instructor at the Hinton Skydiving Centre in Oxford.
Arina said: “Just before we jumped my instructor told me he was going to open the canopy at around 6,000 feet and so there was going to be a free fall of around 8,000 feet. The free fall lasted for 11 seconds. The feeling of nothingness once you hit terminal velocity is indescribable…everything stops. And although you are falling at around 180 mph everything is very, very slow. I loved it.”
The 24-year-old, who works as the sales controller for Cleankill, said she would love more than anything to do at least ten more jumps and get to the point where she can skydive solo. She is now looking for her next challenge which might be bungee jump or a trek in Nepal.
