Last week I posted in a huff on facebook that we had just been hit with a £200 fine. It was for failure to display a ‘no smoking’ sticker in one of our sign written vans. When I did so, I was not expecting the tide of coverage and support that I have since received.
What irked me most was that it was a brand new vehicle, being picked up from the sign-writers. We had a sticker all ready to go back at the office! Our pest technician driving the van does not smoke, but if he had been caught having a sneaky puff at the wheel it would have cost me merely £50.
My rant was picked up by The Daily Mail and The Sun who both ran articles on it and these have received around 200 comments in support. My local press has also been in touch and it will be featured in some upcoming pest trade press.
One of the recurring themes in the comments was “why aren’t they spending time catching real criminals?” and “what will the money be spent on?” So far Haringey council have not answered these questions…
